The History Behind Halloween! āØš October 31st - November 1st Samhain (pronounced āSOW-inā or āSAH-winā) celebrates the midway point between the autumn equinoxš(the harvest) and the winter solsticeš¬. In other words, Samhain signifies the light's end š and the darkness's welcoming (the colder monthsāļø). This period is also when the veil between both the physical and non-physical world is believed to be the thinnest. This thinning of the veil allows for a deeper connection with spiritual ancestors along with all other spirits explaining the spookyš» dynamic of Halloween. šFurther, the tradition of carving jack-o-lanternsš on Halloween actually stems from the Celtic tradition of carving faces into root vegetablesš„during the early era as a form of protection over their homesš warding off any entities and spirits who were considered unwelcome.
